I am always amazed at what one can learn in a bar. Do you know that cleft between your upper lip and your nose? That is called a Philtrum. In Greek it is the philtron, literally "love charm". I don't know why. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philtrum
What does the Love Charm have to do with Where Is Bob L and his travels? What does this have to do with Saying Goodbye to an Old Friend? Well, Let's go WAY back.
Bob L has had a mustache since 1981, pretty much continuously except for a short time in 1985, although it has not always been as majestic as it currently is.
NO, I am NOT going to put up a photo from back then.
So what's up? I decided to shave the mustache off. Yes, it is an old friend. Yes, I will miss it. No, I can't really give a good reason to get rid of it. Yes, I will probably let it grow back.
Lately I let it grow a bit more than I like without trimming it. It was sucking up more of my beer than I was. It had to go. It was either it or me.
Anyway, here are the before and after photos. I can hardly recognize me.
EDIT - So, the general concensus is that I look younger without it. It is pretty painful to shave there, as the skin there is not yet tough enough. I don't know how long I will tolerate it, but I like it so far.
That really is me. The first time I looked in the mirror I wondered who the heck just walked in.
